Michiru Kita has an unsettling gift: she can see a “ring of death” around people’s necks, and the deeper its color, the nearer their end. It’s a secret she lives with quietly—until she spots two classmates, Chika Akatsuki and Shito Tachibana, marked by rings so black they should already be gone.

Trying to warn them, Michiru uncovers the truth: Chika and Shito are dead, yet still moving thanks to a contract with Zombie-Loan, a shadowy loan office. Their borrowed existence comes with a steep repayment plan—tracking down and killing zombies to settle the debt. Once the boys realize Michiru can see what others can’t, they pull her into the dangerous, supernatural work that keeps them “alive.”
