Synopsis

A gateway to another world opens on Earth, and Mikado City becomes the front line of an invasion by enigmatic beings called Neighbors—foes unaffected by conventional weapons. To protect the public, the Border Defense Agency is formed, outfitting its agents with specialized armaments known as Triggers. Years later, the threat hasn’t faded, and Border continues to stand watch.

Osamu Mikumo, still a trainee, is forbidden from using his Trigger outside headquarters, but a sudden incident near a restricted area leaves him little choice. When his new classmate Yuuma Kuga is caught up in the danger, Neighbors strike—and Yuuma dispatches them with ease, exposing a startling truth: he’s a humanoid Neighbor living undercover.
