Brandon Heat and Harry MacDowel are inseparable friends—close enough to be brothers—until a sudden, brutal turning point shows them just how unforgiving their world can be. Up to then, life has been little more than drifting through street fights, womanizing, and small-time theft, never imagining how quickly everything could change.

Their path collides with Millennion, the region’s most feared mafia syndicate, which brings them into its ranks at the lowest level. Harry burns with ambition to climb the organization and eventually supplant its boss, Big Daddy, while Brandon is driven less by power than by loyalty—standing by Harry and trying to stay in Big Daddy’s good graces, especially after Big Daddy takes custody of the woman Brandon loves. Based on the third-person shooter game of the same name, *Gungrave* follows their rise through organized crime over the years, building toward the ominous opening episode and the fallout it foreshadows.
