Young Black Jack

Set in 1960s Japan, *Young Black Jack* follows Kuroo Hazama, a quiet but exceptionally talented medical student known for his striking black-and-white hair, scarred body, and a past he keeps buried. Though still in training, Hazama’s remarkable surgical skill draws notice after he pulls off an operation others deem impossible. Alongside the forthright intern Maiko Okamoto and his close friend Yabu—whose own life is marked by hardship—he throws himself into the demanding world of medicine.

As unrest and turmoil spread through the country, Hazama’s pursuit of becoming a respected surgeon grows increasingly complicated. Student riots, war, and corruption press in from all sides, pulling him into troubling situations that test both his ethics and his future. The story traces the hard road that shapes a man capable of extraordinary medical feats into the figure later known as Black Jack.
