Sixty years ago, an unexplained wave of insomnia spread through society, leaving people awake for more than a week until sleep deprivation drove them insane. A drug was created to stop the illness, but its unforeseen consequence transformed patients into vampires. Humanity fought back and won, though a number of vampires endured in the shadows.

Mi Liu, a half-human, half-vampire known as the “Child of Hope,” is seen as a possible bridge between the two worlds. After leading a bank robbery, he’s arrested and sent to a National Defense Agency facility built to confine and observe vampires. When Mi Liu and Anji attempt to escape, they’re assaulted by bizarre monsters, and Mi Liu realizes the prison stands on the site tied to the vampires’ origin—the former capital, “Blue Town.” With vampires trapped inside and danger closing in, Mi Liu and the others are forced to uncover what Blue Town really is and why something in it wants them dead.
