Elegant Yokai Apartment Life

After losing his parents in his first year of middle school, Yuushi Inaba is taken in by relatives who provide for him—yet he can’t shake the feeling that he’s in the way. Determined to start fresh after graduation, he looks forward to moving into his new high school’s dormitory, only for a sudden fire to destroy it before he ever arrives. With little money and nowhere else to go, Yuushi searches desperately for a place to live and ends up renting a room in an old, charming building that seems almost too perfect.

It doesn’t take long to learn why: the apartment is a “Monster House,” shared by humans and supernatural residents like ghosts and mononoke. Among the tenants is Akine, a fellow high school student who treats the otherworldly neighbors as no big deal—and can even drive out malicious spirits. For Yuushi, ordinary school days quickly give way to an unexpected new routine filled with strange encounters and unfamiliar housemates.
