Monochrome Factor

High schooler Akira Nikaido coasts through life as an unmotivated slacker—until a pale, enigmatic man named Shirogane appears and insists the two are bound by fate. Akira dismisses the claim outright, but the encounter leaves an unease that won’t go away.

When Akira returns to school at night to help his friend Aya retrieve something she forgot, he’s attacked by a shadowy creature. Shirogane reveals that the equilibrium between the human world and the shadow world has been thrown off, and urges Akira to become a “shin,” a being of the shadow realm, to help set things right. Alongside its supernatural action, Monochrome Factor leans into shonen-ai elements that are not present in the original manga.
