My Roommate is a Cat

Subaru Mikazuki, a 23-year-old mystery novelist, keeps the world at arm’s length. Shy to the point of isolation, he prefers the quiet of home and his books to socializing, a solitude deepened by the loss of his parents in an accident years earlier.

While visiting their grave to leave offerings, Subaru encounters a small gray-and-white cat he later names Haru and brings her home. Having never looked after anyone before, he struggles with the basics of caring for another living creature—even as Haru, grateful for steady meals after life on the streets, starts to realize her new owner can barely manage his own daily life. *My Roommate is a Cat* follows their tentative cohabitation as human and cat gradually learn to understand—and rely on—each other.
