The Law of Ueki

A secret competition unfolds beyond human awareness in *The Law of Ueki*, where the next ruler of the Heavenly World is chosen through a battle tournament. One hundred “God Candidates” descend to Earth and each grants a supernatural ability to a selected middle school student, who then fights on their behalf. The winning student earns the “Blank Talent,” a prize that lets them choose any unique power they want, while the God Candidate they represent ascends to become “God” and reign over the Heavenly World.

Kousuke Ueki enters the fray after his homeroom teacher, Kobayashi, gives him the unusual ability to turn trash into trees. Though his classmate Ai Mori worries about the danger involved, Ueki throws himself into the matches, driven by a personal sense of justice after seeing others use their abilities selfishly. Facing off against formidable power users like Seiichirou Sano, Rinko Jerrard, Robert Haydn, and Hideyoshi Soya, he quickly learns that doing what he believes is right won’t be simple in a tournament built to reward victory above all else.
