KenIchi: The Mightiest Disciple

Kenichi Shirahama is a timid high schooler who spends his days getting beaten up in the karate club and trying to toughen himself up with the self-help books he always carries. On his way to school, he startles a new classmate, Miu Furinji, who reflexively flips him to the ground—then quickly apologizes and asks to be friends.

After practice, Kenichi is cornered by a clubmate and forced into a decisive match: fight next week, and the loser must quit for good. Shaken by how outclassed he is, he’s stunned to see Miu effortlessly handle three thugs, and he begs her to teach him how to fight back. Miu leads him to her grandfather’s dojo, Ryouzanpaku, home to a group of highly skilled—and decidedly eccentric—martial arts masters who train at extreme levels, promising Kenichi real strength if he can survive their methods.

As the criminal martial arts gang Ragnarok begins to threaten those around him, Kenichi commits to harsh training and steps onto a path toward becoming a formidable fighter who can stand up for the defenseless.
