Train to the End of the World

The rollout of 7G Network technology was meant to usher in a new era, but its activation instead throws Japan into disorder. Landscapes warp, people undergo unsettling mutations, and ordinary life is replaced by unfamiliar rules. In Agano—one of the few places still functioning—everyone aged 21 and over has turned into an animal.

High schooler Shizuru Chikura refuses to give up on finding her missing friend, Youka Nakatomi. After spotting a newspaper photo that suggests Youka is in Ikebukuro, Shizuru prepares to leave, only to find that public transit has all but collapsed. Her chance comes from Tairo Zenjirou, an elderly, forgetful conductor and the town’s only human adult, who shows her how to run an abandoned train. With Nadeshiko Hoshi, Reimi Kuga, and Akira Shinonome joining at the last moment, Shizuru sets off down a single set of tracks toward a destination that may hold far greater dangers than anything they’ve faced in Agano.
