Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad

Fourteen-year-old Yukio “Koyuki” Tanaka drifts through life without much direction until a chance encounter pulls him toward music. After he rescues an unusual dog named Beck from a group of kids, Koyuki meets the dog’s owner: 16-year-old Ryuusuke “Ray” Minami, a gifted guitarist and former member of a well-known rock band.

A later run-in at a diner leads Koyuki deeper into Ray’s world, where he’s stunned by Ray’s playing and the pull of Western rock culture. Determined to learn guitar and support Ray’s ambition to create the ultimate rock band, Koyuki joins forces with Ray, Ray’s younger sister Maho, and other musicians to form BECK—then navigates the setbacks and breakthroughs that come with chasing recognition on Japan’s rock scene.
