Detroit Metal City rules the indie scene as a notorious death metal act, celebrated for an aggressively dark, crude persona. At the center is the flamboyant frontman Johannes Krauser II, a figure marketed as a demon born from hell to conquer humanity—at least, that’s the legend the public is sold.

Behind the makeup and blasphemy is Souichi Negishi, a mild-mannered college graduate who’d rather spend his days with Swedish pop than shock-rock theatrics. Needing the paycheck, he’s forced to endure DMC’s outrageous performances while trying to keep his double life intact, navigate a possible romance, and survive the devotion of fans who take Krauser’s myth a little too seriously.
