Junpei Kousaka, a second-year high schooler with a severe cat allergy, has grown to resent felines—an attitude that only makes life harder when nearly everyone around him adores them, including his family, an estranged childhood friend, and his crush, Kaede Mizuno.

On the way home one day, a botched attempt to kick a can into the trash accidentally damages the head of a statue honoring a cat deity. Junpei is promptly cursed with the ability to understand what cats are saying, but he’s forced to keep it hidden: anyone who learns the truth becomes dangerously accident-prone and risks suffering the same fate. Guided by a cat named Nyamsus, he’s given a daunting condition for breaking the curse—complete one hundred good deeds for cats, or be transformed into one himself, a terrifying prospect for someone whose allergy could make that outcome fatal.
