My Bride is a Mermaid

During summer break, middle schooler Nagasumi Michishio visits the Seto Inland Sea. A swim at Mio Sun Beach turns dangerous when his leg cramps and he begins to drown—until a mermaid appears and pulls him to safety.

That evening, his rescuer introduces herself as Sun Seto, a mermaid tied to a yakuza family. Merfolk law demands severe punishment if a mermaid’s identity is exposed to a human, and Sun’s family offers a single way out: Nagasumi must marry her, or face the wrath of Sun’s father, Gouzaburou, head of the Seto clan. With no real choice, Nagasumi agrees—only to find that keeping their sudden marriage quiet, and surviving Gouzaburou’s hostility and a parade of oddball troublemakers, is its own kind of trial as the pair start to grow closer.
