Wandering Son

Shuuichi Nitori, an effeminate fifth grader often mistaken for one of the prettiest girls in class, quietly wrestles with the fact that he was born male. His closest refuge is childhood friend Yoshino Takatsuki, a tall tomboy who was born female but doesn’t feel at home being seen as a girl. In each other, they find rare understanding—and a shared secret that’s difficult to carry at school.

As they move into a new environment, Shuuichi and Yoshino try to build new friendships without losing the old ones, all while navigating puberty, first love, and shifting relationships. *Wandering Son* approaches questions of gender identity and acceptance with a grounded, serious tone, following their search for self-understanding amid the pressures of growing up.
