Sasami Tsukuyomi is a hikikomori, so withdrawn that even starting her first year of high school feels out of reach. She stays at home with her older brother, Kamiomi—conveniently a teacher at the school she’s meant to attend—and relies on a “Brother Surveillance Tool” on her computer to keep tabs on the world outside and, in theory, ease her back into dealing with people.

In practice, the tool mostly feeds Sasami a front-row view of Kamiomi’s daily encounters with the three peculiar Yagami sisters, whose ages seem strangely out of order and whose attention toward him is hard to ignore. As Sasami watches, ordinary life begins to slip into the surreal—rumors of powers, reality bending in bizarre ways, and the nagging question of whether the internet is distorting her perspective or the universe itself is coming undone.
