If Her Flag Breaks

In visual novels, “flags” are pivotal triggers—raise a romance flag and a heroine’s route begins; raise a death flag and tragedy is set in motion. Souta Hatate lives with a version of that logic made real: he can see these invisible flags hovering over people’s heads and even knock them down to prevent the events they predict.

After surviving a past accident as the only one left alive, Souta becomes convinced that anyone who gets close to him is destined for misfortune, so he keeps others at a distance. That resolve starts to crumble when he transfers to a new school and averts another death flag—an act that catches the attention of his classmate Nanami Knight Bladefield. Determined to understand him and stay by his side, Nanami draws Souta into new connections and strange questions about the true nature of his power.
