Under royal decree, the Valiante Kingdom begins a ruthless campaign to purge “witchcraft,” and seventeen years later the hunts have only intensified. The public never learns the truth: those being targeted are the Makai Knights and Makai Alchemists, clandestine guardians who stand between humanity and Horrors—demons drawn to souls steeped in sorrow and pain.

Seventeen-year-old Leon Luis is one such knight, inheriting the fabled armor of the Golden Knight Garo from his mother. Gifted with formidable power yet burdened by anger over her death at the kingdom’s hands, Leon continues training under his father German, Zoro the Shadow Cutting Knight. When a surge of Horrors strikes the capital, German takes Leon with him, hoping the mission will temper his wavering resolve.

In the capital, Alfonso San Valiante—the king’s kindhearted son—searches for a way to confront the growing menace, only to be betrayed and cast out of his own land. Determined to return, Alfonso journeys to gather the strength and allies he needs, crossing paths with Leon along the way—an encounter that reshapes both of their destinies.
