Synopsis

Tucked away from city crowds, Asahigaoka is a tiny countryside village with little more than a candy shop and a single bus line. Even so, the local kids fill their days with outdoor play, small discoveries, and the easy rhythm of rural life. Young Renge Miyauchi eagerly awaits the new school year’s entrance ceremony as she prepares to start first grade, joining the town’s lone school alongside seventh grader Natsumi Koshigaya and Natsumi’s older sister, eighth grader Komari.

A new face arrives as well: fifth grader Hotaru Ichijou, who has just moved from Tokyo. As Hotaru settles into her new surroundings, she’s drawn into the everyday adventures and growing friendships that make life in Asahigaoka quietly memorable.
