Shinkurou Kurenai is a 16-year-old student who spends his nights working as a dispute mediator. Gentle and remarkably patient despite a painful past, he’s trained himself to survive, hiding formidable martial arts skill—and an unusual power—behind an unassuming presence.

Assigned by his employer, Benika Juuzawa, to protect Murasaki Kuhouin, Shinkurou finds himself living alongside her as her bodyguard. Murasaki, the seven-year-old daughter of an immensely wealthy family, has fled her home under strange circumstances with Benika’s assistance. Thrust into an ordinary neighborhood, she initially treats everyday life as something alien, but gradually softens through contact with the people around her and begins to grow closer to Shinkurou.
