The Legend of Hei

Luo Xiaohei is a young monster who usually appears as a tiny black cat, living quietly in the forest. When deforestation and expanding human development destroy his home, he’s driven into the city, where survival becomes a daily struggle. His luck shifts when he meets Feng Xi, another monster who brings him to a secluded island shared by a small community of monsters—seemingly the refuge Xiaohei has been searching for.

That peace doesn’t last. Wuxian, a human Guild Executor, arrives on the island while pursuing Feng Xi, and the ensuing escape leaves Xiaohei stranded with Wuxian. Unwilling to trust the man who threatened his new companions, Xiaohei is nonetheless taken along to the Guild, setting off a journey that forces him to reconsider what separates humans and monsters in a world that’s changing faster than either can ignore.
