In the Imperial Capital’s Fifth Ward, the Black Cat Café offers a gentle refuge in a world reshaped by a war that ended only a few years ago. Its staff are Automata—highly advanced mechanical dolls—newly repaired and dressed in refined kimonos as they learn to live for something other than the duties they once carried. Yet even in peacetime, memories of the past linger, making it difficult for them to fully leave their former responsibilities behind.

Haizakura, one of the café’s recently restored Automata, awakens after a reset with her memories gone and her place in this new life unclear. What remains unmistakable is her love of singing. Guided by her curiosity and the songs she shares, Haizakura and her fellow Automata move forward together, searching for a renewed sense of purpose while supporting one another through the challenges that come with starting over.
