Seven years after witnessing his sister’s suicide, Kakeru Satsuki is trying to live a steadier life in high school after time spent in an orphanage. That fragile calm breaks during an outing with his closest friend, Yuka Minase, when the sky abruptly turns crimson, everyone else vanishes, and grotesque creatures begin to hunt them—only for the world to snap back to normal at the last possible moment.

The phenomenon returns the next day as the “Red Night,” and Kakeru and Yuka survive thanks to the intervention of an upperclassman, Misuzu Kusakabe. As the three dig for answers, they learn of a mysterious girl sealed within a crystal and discover other students are entangled in the same supernatural ordeal, each carrying their own burdens. Determined to keep Yuka safe, Kakeru pushes himself to grow stronger and work alongside the others to bring the Red Night to an end.
