In the 21st century, aliens have quietly become part of everyday life on Earth. In the laid-back town of Enohana, cash-strapped student Chigasaki Mayuko ends up sharing her home with NieA, an “Under Seven” alien from the lowest caste.

Mayuko works hard to scrape by, only to have her efforts complicated by NieA’s carefree attitude and habit of ignoring the fallout of her choices. Their mismatched cohabitation unfolds against the constant presence of a wrecked alien mothership, lending a gentle sci-fi backdrop to the rhythms of ordinary life.
