Taichi Yagami and the other original Chosen Children are now in junior high, and their connection with their Digimon partners has faded. When Taichi unexpectedly receives an urgent call to return to the Digital World, he finds it under the shadow of the Digimon Emperor—an ominous figure who has left Digimon frightened and unable to Digivolve.

Back in the real world, Hikari Yagami and Takeru Takaishi end up in the same fifth-grade class, where they meet three new classmates: the energetic Daisuke Motomiya, tech-savvy Miyako Inoue, and Iori Hida, Miyako’s neighbor. After the trio receives D-3 Digivices, they join Hikari and Takeru—still carrying their original Digivices—as a new group of Chosen Children. Armed with the power of the Armored Digi-Eggs, they set out to challenge the Digimon Emperor and stop his growing control over the Digital World.
