Shiki Tohno awakens in a hospital room to a terrifying new sight: faint, invisible lines running through everything around him. That fragile normalcy collapses when he meets a strange woman with vivid red eyes on his way home from school. After a sudden, unexplainable break in his sanity, he believes he has killed her before losing consciousness. The next day, attacked by demonic hounds and pushed to the brink, Shiki is rescued by the very same woman: Arcueid Brunestud, a vampire princess. With murders mounting in town, the two join forces to dig into the truth behind their origins—and the darkness closing in around them.
