Blade of the Immortal

Manji, a feared swordsman of feudal Japan known as the “Hundred Man Killer” for the deaths of one hundred innocent people, carries a darker secret than his reputation: he cannot die. His immortality comes from Yaobikuni, an eight-hundred-year-old nun who implanted bloodworms in his body—creatures that can mend nearly any wound and keep him alive.

Seeking atonement, Manji vows to cut down one thousand wicked men, and Yaobikuni promises to lift his immortality if he fulfills the pact. Not long after, he crosses paths with Rin Asano, a 16-year-old girl determined to avenge her parents’ murder by the hands of their killers. He turns her away at first, but relents when he sees how defenseless she is, agreeing to guard her for four years as they set out together on a harsh road of vengeance, violence, and redemption.
