Deaimon: Recipe for Happiness

A decade after leaving Kyoto to chase a dream that didn’t work out, Nagomu Irino returns home when he learns his father—the proprietor of the traditional sweets shop Ryokushou—has been hospitalized. Expecting to step in and carry on the family craft, Nagomu steels himself to inherit the shop and devote himself to wagashi-making.

Instead, he finds his father has already named a successor: Itsuka Yukihira, a 10-year-old girl who was left at Ryokushou by her father for reasons unknown. Now the shop’s beloved poster girl, Itsuka still aches to see her father again and clings to any hint that might lead her to him. Hoping to ease that loneliness, Nagomu’s mother asks him to take on a fatherly role in Itsuka’s life, and though their first encounters are rocky, the two slowly begin to understand each other—bonding through Ryokushou, its sweets, and the small comforts they bring.
