Box of Goblins

Absent-minded schoolgirl Yoriko Kusumoto is devoted to her friend Kanako Yuzuki, but their plans for a summer trip collapse into horror when Kanako is discovered gravely injured on the train tracks and Yoriko is left sobbing on the station platform. Shuutarou Kiba, a detective who was aboard the train that struck her, begins digging into what happened—only to find the case tangled in layers of deception surrounding the influential Yuzuki family, including Kanako’s sister Youko, a celebrated actress.

Kanako survives emergency surgery, yet remains in critical condition, leading Youko to place her under the care of Dr. Koushirou Mimasaka in a foreboding, box-like facility hidden in the forest for experimental treatment. When Kiba and Yoriko visit one night, Kanako vanishes, and the search for her intensifies as a string of grotesque discoveries emerges: boxed limbs belonging to young girls. With partners Tatsumi Sekiguchi and Akihiko Chuuzenji at his side, Kiba pursues the connection between the disappearances, the macabre evidence, and the truths the Yuzuki name seems determined to conceal.
