Tokyo’s skyline has been rewritten by a single, unsettling presence: a colossal alien mothership hanging overhead, blotting out any easy sense of freedom or a bright tomorrow. Three years earlier, the arrival of the “Invaders” ignited humanity’s largest war, pushing Japan into a frantic mobilization as weapons were churned out on a massive scale—fueling public backlash and the rise of pacifist movements.

In the shadow of that ongoing crisis, Kadode Koyama and Ouran Nakagawa spend their last high school days much as they always have, moving between classes, friends, and ordinary distractions. As they edge toward adulthood, the world around them suggests a harsher lesson: in a society shaped by fear and conflict, the most dangerous force may not be the Invaders above, but the people down below.
